Pinellas County's First Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic Opens

Clearwater, FL - The Spay and Neuter Clinic of Pinellas County opens April 3rd, 2007. Dr. Josepha V. Supow, veterinarian and owner of The Animal Health Care Clinic, opens the county's first low-cost spay and neuter clinic.

National statistics confirm that 6-8 million animals enter the shelters each year. Many of these unwanted animals are the result of haphazard breeding. Over a span of seven years, an unsterilized animal can produce hundreds of offspring. Hence, the animal over population problem continues exponentially. Over half of these homeless animals end up euthanized. Spaying and neutering our animals can solve this very sad problem.

A spayed / neutered animal is also less likely to be aggressive toward other animals. Similarly, sterilized animals are protected from various medical conditions and diseases. These animals are also less likely to roam away from home.

Dr. Supow, a graduate from The University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, has dedicated the past 15 years of her professional career toward helping to solve the animal over population problem. She has given her time and surgical expertise to many shelters in the nation, including Pinellas County's own Humane Society. Now, Supow says she wants to dedicate her efforts towards cleaning up Pinellas County. Supow states, "I want to help Pinellas County, and all of the surrounding counties,, to have the healthiest animals possible by offering low-cost spaying and neutering and affordable veterinary care to all pet owners regardless of their socioeconomic standing or geographic locale."

The Spay and Neuter Clinic of Pinellas County opens it's doors this week. Cat neuters are $40.00 and cat spays are $50.00. Dog neuters start at $45.00 and dog spays start at $55.00.

The clinic is located at 1710 Drew Street, in Clearwater, Florida, adjacent to The Animal Health Care Clinic. Hours are 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, and 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The phone number is (727) 447-PETS (7387).
